Renergi AS is a Norwegian company that has been conducting fuel combustion research since the 1970s. As a result, the MERGI combustion catalyst has been developed. This catalyst improves the quality of fuels, releasing more energy, reducing hydrocarbon residues, and producing cleaner residues. It is a non-metallic catalyst.

The MERGI Combustion Catalyst reduces fuel ignition delay, increasing combustion efficiency. This, in turn, reduces maintenance costs (piston rings break less frequently and are less likely to seize, reducing wear on rings and cylinder liners, turbochargers, and catalysts, etc.), as well as lowering fuel consumption. It also allows for the use of lower-quality fuels and reduces the emission of CO, NOx, and HC. MERGI improves the combustion of fuels such as heavy fuel oil, marine diesel, gas oil, gasoline, and automotive diesel. It can be used in both marine and land-based engines, as well as in boilers.
